Some people can afford to have an empty 2,000-square-foot home left empty somewhere while they travel the world. For the rest of us, we can afford full-time travel simply because our RVs, tents, Airbnbs, hotel rooms, or boats are the house. That’s home! We spend our mortgage and rent money on campsites, cruises, and suites.
Still, without a steady income, many of us could see our dreams of travel go up in flames. What you worked years to build could evaporate overnight with another layoff announcement or evaporate over weeks when new technology hits the market. I experienced that last year.

Don’t wait until you get that dreaded email to start planning for disaster. The best plans are the ones you make before desperation kicks in.
1. Automate your savings.
Are you terrible at saving? Most of us struggle with putting money away, especially when we think of all the things we could pay for today. Resist temptation by automating your savings and building an emergency fund.
