Last week, I talked about starting my minimalist journey by reducing all my possessions to what could fit inside three suitcases and a laptop bag.

The Great Purge—as I called it—was one of the most therapeutic steps I took in my digital nomad journey. There’s something freeing about parting ways with the idea that we need a lot of stuff to be happy and fulfilled.

Still, this might not be your experience. Parting ways with your belongings could feel like losing a part of yourself, especially when it comes to things of sentimental value.

You’ll have to decide what minimalism will look like for you and then choose a travel plan that suits it. Here’s how to get started.

1. Get Rid of the Knickknacks

Start with that drawer. Yes, that drawer. We all have at least one in our homes. Even I have one in the RV.
