Here's Why I Chose Western Governors University for My Master's Degree
You won't believe my graduation goal!
Last week, I shared that I had dropped out of UoPeople. It was not a decision taken lightly. Before dropping out, I called my parents. UoPeople seemed like the better financial option, but hating my life for two years in a master’s degree program did not appeal to me.
I’ve NEVER seen you stressed about school before. Quit! Don’t wait and then miss the deadline. Quit now.
Dad had experienced student loan debt and felt maybe I should stick it out and save the money. His MBA cost him tens of thousands of dollars in student loans; he didn’t want that for me.
I didn’t want that for me either! But ultimately, I chose to withdraw and applied to WGU the following morning.
Why I Chose Western Governors University
WGU showed up consistently in my search for affordable universities with online programs. While UoPeople certainly had it beat on price, it didn’t beat WGU on value. Here are some reasons that pulled me in.
WGU is truly self-paced.
Western Governors University has no set deadlines for degree completion. It does have a mandatory number of credits you must complete each six-month semester. Beyond that, you can take as much — or as little — time as you need to complete your degree. You schedule your assessments when you’re ready and submit your work when you’re done.
